TLS signed “Bruce,” one page, 7.5 x 10, Jeet Kune Do emblem letterhead, September 4, 1967. Typed to William J. Chung, a kung-fu master in New York City during the 1960s, in full: "Thank you for your letter of August 18. I am sorry to say that I will not be able to attend Gary Alexander's kind invitation as I will be on the road during that weekend. I do not know of any gentleman by the name of Bruce Fleetwood. As to his rumors about me, there are one hundred and one of them told to me every day. Also, I do not know of Wai Mar from Seattle. Again thank you for your kind letter and do give my best regards to your family." Two images of Lee have been affixed to the lower portion of the letter. In very good to fine condition, with overall wrinkling and creasing, some small stains, complete backing to the reverse, and slight blurring to the signature. Encapsulated in a PSA/DNA authentication holder. Accompanied by a full letter of authenticity from PSA/DNA.
In the January 1968 issue of Black Belt magazine, the name "Bruce Fleetwood" appeared in a letter submitted to the 'Letter to the Editor' section. The letter, which was written by Chung, was one of several sent by readers that Bruce Lee personally responded to for the magazine.
Chung's submission: 'The reason for this letter is that there are rumors that a man in Connecticut by the name of Bruce Fleetwood is spreading around. He claims to have defeated Bruce Lee twice in public and many times in private sparring. I have never seen this person before, but I feel it would not be that easy to beat Bruce Lee. Also, I don't recall ever hearing of Bruce Lee competing in public. Please give me your opinion about this so I can set things straight with the karate people in Connecticut.'
Lee's two-word response: 'Who's he????'
