Original dual-sided metal street sign for the Samuel C. Phillips Parkway, one of the most traveled and important roads on the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. The brown sign with white text measures 30″ x 9″ and reads “S.C. Phillips Pkwy,” with the left side featuring the United States Space Command emblem. The sign is autographed in black felt tip by 24 astronauts from NASA’s four major programs: Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, and the Space Shuttle. Signers are as follows: Buzz Aldrin, Alan Bean, who adds “Apollo 12,” Scott Carpenter, Gene Cernan, who adds “USN,” Walt Cunningham, Charlie Duke, Richard Gordon, Fred Haise, James Lovell, Edgar Mitchell, Rusty Schweickart, Dave Scott, Tom Stafford, Vance Brand, Owen Garriott, Ed Gibson, Robert ‘Hoot’ Gibson, Hank Hartsfield, Tom Jones, Jack Lousma, Jon McBride, Rick Searfoss, Rhea Seddon, and Bob Springer. In very good to fine condition, with some chipping and general scuffing. The consignor notes that the sign was purchased at an Astronaut Scholarship Foundation auction, the same event where the signatures were obtained.
