Partly-printed vellum DS as president, one page, 16 x 20, December 29, 1922. President Harding appoints Stuart Heintzelman as "Brigadier General, Regular Army in the service of the United States." Signed at the conclusion by President Harding and countersigned by Secretary of War John W. Weeks. In fine condition. Accompanied by a full letter of authenticity from PSA/DNA. As a general staff officer with the American Expeditionary Force, Heintzelman had been responsible for planning the St. Mihiel Offensive during World War I. His military awards include the Commander of the Legion of Honor and the Croix de Guerre with palm from France, the Commander of the Order of the Crown by the Italian Government, and the Distinguished Service Medal.
