Partly-printed vellum DS as president, signed "R. B. Hayes," one page, 15.75 x 19.25, November 27, 1877. President Hayes appoints Daniel A. Frederick as "Additional Second Lieutenant in the Tenth Regiment of Infantry in the service of the United States." Signed at the conclusion by President Hayes and countersigned by Secretary of War George W. McCrary. Slight wear to the intact blue seal affixed to the upper left. In very good to fine condition, with scattered soiling and light staining, and a few holes along the top edge.
