Handwritten letter addressed to Lenny Bruce from his former agent Jack Sobel, four pages, 4 x 6, no date, in full: "I do not want to become involved with any more of your activities-you handle London any way you want to-but without me-Don't send any tapes to me-As a matter of fact, why don't you get one of your many lawyers or many friends to handle the Fantasy & Atlantic deals directly. I do not want to continue any longer in handling these matters. I will advise Paul Marshall of this change when I have breakfast with him this Friday morning. I will tell him you are still vitally interested in closing the deal-but, that I am out.-What kind of bull-shit are you throwing at me? Once, you praised the London deal as the most important recent step in your career-now, you claim 'mismanagement.'-I can't keep up with your changing moods and I don't need these kind of problems. So, let's just forget it-And to add salt to the wound-I understand that you have been trying to find ground to sue me-1.) Once in June through Zaidins and 2) in September through Lazar.-" Sobel adds a postscript, "You can close the Hefner deal yourself-and if you wind up ahead on money one day, you still owe me $758.89-." Letter is stapled to another typed letter, one page, embossed The Establishment letterhead, dated November 7, 1962, regarding the procurement of off-the-market pills, the cost of an 'E' Type Jaguar, and a series of London shows in February of the following year. Includes a two-page Western Union Telegram from Sobel to Bruce, postmarked August 15, 1961, in part: "Am currently negotiating deal hard cover edition How to Talk Dirty book…Concert tour London and Dublin progressing excellently will advise more these matters." In overall very good to fine condition.
