In full: "Mr. Butler's Compliments to Mess'rs Nicklin and Griffith he incloses to them a letter lately rec'd from Mr. Simkins—he wishes it to be shewn to Mess'rs Kitland & Higby, for the sole purpose of convincing them of the little prospect they had of ever getting possession of the Land—Mr. Butler will thank Mess'rs Nicklin & Griffith for the $448.50 advanced by him to pay for the Taxes—which they know Mr. B has no concern in."
