Description

Signer of the Declaration of Independence from Connecticut (1731-1796) and seventh president of the Continental Congress. Partly-printed DS, signed “Sam'l Huntington, Governor,” one page, 6.5 x 7.75, June 3, 1793. Legal summons directing "Paul Phelps of said Town of Windham to appear before the City Court of Pleas to be holden at Norwich…on the 2nd Tuesday of July next…to answer unto Elijah Backus of Norwich city" who claims that he paid Phelps the sum of "Ten Pounds Seven Shillings and four pence" for the non-delivery of "good pork or beef, wheat, Rye or Indian corn." Signed at the conclusion in Huntington as governor of Connecticut. In fine condition, with end splits along horizontal folds.
