Description

“If I don’t feel good in Feb I may resign—for to manage and not feel well is out of the question”

ALS signed “Charles Casey Stengel,” one page, 8.5 x 11, personal letterhead, November 23, 1961. Letter to his brother Grant Stengel, in full: “Merry Xmas + happy N. Year. Every one out here in S. A. are busy buying + sending gifts. Realize you are having a tough time to get up + have a good time. I have been busy with the bank’s business because we are not going to merge but are dividing our stock four for one. The ball club is still buying poor players for large sums but if I don’t feel good in Feb I may resign; for to manage and not feel well is out of the question. Enclosed is a check for $1000.00. Know you can use the money. Best to the family.” In fine condition. Accompanied by an unsigned photograph, and the original mailing envelope, addressed in Stengel’s own hand. Also accompanied by a letter of provenance from a relative of Stengel. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
