American golfer (1934–1966) who came to international prominence when he beat Jack Nicklaus by five strokes in the 1964 British open. His promising career was cut short when the plane he was traveling in crashed on a golf course in Illinois on July 24, 1966, killing all four on board. Color vintage 7.75 x 9.25 magazine photo of Lema posing on the fairway, signed and inscribed in blue ballpoint, “To Jack, Best wishes from your friend, Golfingly yours, Tony Lema.” In very good condition, with intersecting folds (one vertical fold passing through the inscription), and overall creases.
