Description

"Give him some of the dope, of what my Chiricahua are going thro at the hands of the whites"

Chiricahua Apache (1874-1984) who was the grandson of the legendary Chief Cochise and appeared on Groucho Marx's 'You Bet Your Life' television show in 1957. ALS signed “Nino,” one page, 8.25 x 11, April 26, [no year]. Handwritten letter, in part: "I shur have them stired up in Hollywood. They are useing heavy artilery but they won't get any place…Christian holds you in high esteem and Eugene laughed when I asked him why he pulled your leg. I set him rite on that. This guy Stevens here at San Carlos is a Representative for those at San Carlos, and he doesn't want me to throw in my nickle's worth neither do a lot of other people. Because they know darn well they will no longer line their own pocket books. Say my personal manager has asked me to write you and get your sell number. They have something planned for me but won't let me in on it. So if you will write him, give him some of the dope, of what my Chiricahua are going thro at the hands of the whites." Mounted, matted, and framed with a portrait to an overall size of 16 x 26. In fine condition.
