Description

Lieutenant General William P. Yarborough’s Vietnam-era U.S. Army field coat. The olive green poplin cotton coat, size small regular, bears embroidered Lieutenant General three-star rank insignia to both sides of the collar, and patches to either chest section that read “Yarborough” and “U.S. Army.” The inner collar retains two tags, the left shoulder bears United States Army Pacific and “Airborne” patches, and the interior of the lower right contains the original instruction label for a “Coat, Man’s, Combat, Tropical.” Includes a camo bib or infantry scarf, as well as a signed letter of provenance from Yarborough, who writes: “This uniform was worn during the time when I was Chief of Staff, US Army Pacific (1969-71) based in Hawaii—I was ‘in the field’ most of my time, using an assigned mission airplane, visiting Japan, Korea, Laos, Singapore, the Philippines, and, of course, Vietnam.” In fine condition, with expected wear from use.
