In the early 1960s, he either controlled or influenced virtually all non-military unmanned space missions for the free world. Rare vintage ballpoint signature and inscription, "To Louis Mandell, at U. of Arizona dedication of Space Science Building, Homer E. Newell, 26 Jan 1967,” on an off-white 5 x 3 card.
