Small fabric Russian flag, 6″ x 4.25″, attested to as being flown aboard the Atlantis orbiter to the Mir space station during the STS-71 mission. In fine condition. Accompanied by a signed certificate of authenticity from Sandy Clarkson of The Right Stuff, Inc., who states: “This flag was one of only 100 Russian Flags flown in the OFK aboard Atlantis for the duration of this record-setting mission. These flags were used as special presentation items for deserving individuals who supported the mission.” Accompanied by a copy of a transmittal letter from NASA dated July 31, 1995, related to the “Official Flight Kit (OFK) Items - STS-71,” in part: “In accordance with your request dated March 30, 1995, I am returning 250 Phase I Patches, 100 Russian Flags, and flags of Russian States to you after flight aboard a Space Shuttle mission.”
