German composer (1784-1838) who was a friend and pupil of Beethoven, considered one of his closest associates. ALS signed “Ferd: Ries,” one page, 4 x 6, no date. Handwritten letter regarding his Cello Sonata, Op.125, in full: "The Dedication of the Sonata is to Major General Sir Herbert Taylor, K.C.H." Affixed to a slightly larger sheet and in very good to fine condition, with wrinkling and a small tear at center.
