British composer (1842-1900) best known for his collaborations on more than a dozen classic comic operas with librettist W. S. Gilbert. ALS, one page, 4 x 6.5, no date. Handwritten letter by the English composer, in full: "Your letter just missed me, & so I missed you. I shall be either here or at Albert Mansions when you return from Paris: drop me a line at Albert Mansions & we will meet." Matted and framed with a portrait to an overall size of 11.5 x 10.75; reverse bears a Goodspeed's Book Shop label. In very good to fine condition, with intersecting folds, and light creasing and toning.
