DS, signed "Knute Rockne" and "W. E. Meanwell," one page, 10 x 8, circa the summer of 1925. Certificate from the 'Rockne-Meanwell School for Coaches,' in full: "This certified that Mr. U. S. Irish attended courses of 110 hours in the Theory and Practice of Football and Basketball and passed examinations therein. Notre Dame University, Summer Session of 1925." Signed at the conclusion in ink by both legendary coaches. In very good to fine condition, with light creasing and soiling. Encapsulated and graded by PSA/DNA as "NM-MT 8."
Regarded as one of the greatest coaches in college football history, Rockne (1888-1931) is remembered for leading the University of Notre Dame to over 100 wins and three national championships. Meanwell (1884-1953) was a highly successful basketball coach at the University of Wisconsin and University of Missouri, and was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame as a coach in 1959.
