Description

World War II-dated TLS, one page, 8 x 10.5, FBI letterhead, October 25, 1943. Letter to W. W. Galbraith, head of the Eur-African Theater, Division of Naval Intelligence, in full: “Your communication of October 2, 1943, has been received, with which you enclosed a copy of the memorandum from the Swedish Naval Attache requesting information concerning the work of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. I have prepared a memorandum answering the various questions. Two copies of this memorandum are attached, one for your file. It is suggested you may wish to give the memorandum to the Swedish Naval Attache. I feel also perhaps more full information could be given to the Swedish Naval Attache if he would care to call at the Bureau at some prearranged date so that one of my assistants could discuss his various inquiries with him. At that time also he might take a tour of our facilities here in Washington and see for himself many of our activities.” A routing slip is attached to the front and one of the referenced memorandums is attached to the reverse. Includes a Navy Department distribution letter with subject line, “Reciprocal Visits to Commercial plants by Nationals of the United States and Canada,” February 26, 1943, signed at the conclusion by James Forrestal. In fine condition.
