His impeachment by parliament in June, 1981, marked an important turning point in Iran’s political transition from secular democracy to Islamic theocracy. French-language FDC with an embossed cachet honoring the International Year of Human Rights, signed in blue ink in English and in Farsi by Abolhassan Banisadr, who adds a date of September 24, 1987.
