Ink signatures of Hannibal Hamlin, Stephen A. Douglas, Pierre Soulé, James Whitcomb, Daniel Sturgeon, Solomon W. Downs, Andrew Butler, and James Shields on both sides of an off-white 8 x 6.25 album page. All served together as Senators in the 31st United States Congress (1849 to 1851). Two signers are also associated with Abraham Lincoln, making this piece more desirable—Hannibal Hamlin served as Lincoln's first vice president, and he famously squared off against Douglas in the rhetorical arena during the Lincoln-Douglas debates of 1858. In very good to fine condition, with light toning and soiling. Encapsulated in a PSA/DNA authentication holder.
