Addressed from Saint Paul de Vence in France, a handwritten letter to Israeli journalist and writer David Giladi, in full (translated): "My gratitude extends to you for your letter. You must forgive me that my answer was late. I’m not at my best, and the days when I hold a pen in my hand are rare. Everything they said about me—one I knew: my soul is in Israel—my loved. In one of the changes in my life and around me, that I am far away, but I hope that in my art I am close, and something of me is in Israel.” In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope addressed by Chagall, who incorporates his signature on the reverse flap.
