Accompanied by three images of Pope Francis at the time of the signing, as well as a letter of authenticity signed by Father Jon-Paul Bevak, Provost of the Cincinnati Oratory, who attests that "the accompanying baseball was signed by His Holiness, Pope Francis, in my presence on Thursday, April 28, 2022. As a guest of The Papal Foundation, I participated in the private audience with the Holy Father. After preliminary remarks from the Holy Father and His Eminence Sean Patrick Cardinal O’Malley, individuals were then invited to greet the Holy Father personally. I presented him with the baseball and a black ink pen that he used for signing. Official photos of the event, taken by the Vatican Photographers, are included with this letter of attestation.” Baseballs are a highly desirable format for any autograph, with examples signed by the sitting pope placed in a category of considerable rarity and appeal.
