Description

Nevertheless, I want you to know that I do appreciate your greetings and good wishes, and I send you mine herewith. I am truly pleased that you have found such complete happiness and contentment. I am sure you are aware of your unique position and good fortune in this respect. I hope that the best part of your life is just beginning and that you may have many more years which bring you everything you are striving for." Archivally double-matted and framed with two photos to an overall size of 22 x 14.5. In fine condition.

Col. R. C. Kuldell, a former Army Colonel whom Hughes Sr. recruited after World War I, was the executive who ran the Hughes Tool Company and he was a family fixture. Kuldell is credited with administering the Hughes Sr. estate, negotiating with Howard’s relatives when he acquired the remaining stock from them, and successfully guiding the tool company during the Depression’s darkest hours. Kuldell supplemented the tool company by building a brewery on the grounds after prohibition. In 1938, Kuldell was forced out by a corporate power struggle precipitated by Noah Dietrich.
