American admiral (1801-1870) who was a flag officer of the Navy during the Civil War. Desirable 2.25 x 4 Italian carte-de-visite portrait of Farragut in uniform, signed below in ink, “D. G. Farragut,” and also on the reverse, “D. G. Farragut, Admiral.” Published by the Benque-Sebastianutti Studio of Trieste. In very good to fine condition, with rounded corners, small mounting remnants on the back, and nearly complete fading to the signature on the front. Encapsulated in a PSA/DNA authentication holder.
