Original complete set of unused ex-stock 1964 1st series Beatles chewing gum cards manufactured by A. & B. C. Chewing Gum Ltd. The set is composed of 60 cards, 2.25 x 3.25 and 3.25 x 2.25, numbered 1 through 60, that feature different individual or group shots of the Fab Four, with each card bearing a printed facsimile signature of either George Harrison, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, or Ringo Starr. In overall fine condition.
The consignor notes that these cards were obtained from a confectioner’s shop in the 1960s. At the tail end of Beatlemania, the shop owner found that he had several sealed display boxes of the cards on stock and, fearful of the fact that the chewing gum might react with the cards, he took all the small packets of cards out of the box, opened the wrappers, threw away the chewing gum, the wrappers, and the display boxes, and compiled all of the bubble gum cards into sets.
