Collection of ephemera associated with Steve Prefontaine, including: a complete issue of Sports Illustrated from June 15, 1970, featuring a cover story on "America's Distance Prodigy," Steve Prefontaine; an original glossy 8 x 10 press photo of Prefontaine winning the 3000m event at the Oslo Invitational in 1972; an original glossy 5 x 8 photo of Prefontaine at the same Oslo meet, with caption referencing his death; an original program from the NCAA Preparation Meet at Hayward Field, Eugene, Oregon, May 29, 1975-the day before Prefontaine's accident-which hosted 5,000-meter race that Prefontaine won; six original color satin-finish 5 x 3.5 candid photos taken at the May 29th track meet; and six pages of newspaper clippings from the Eugene Register-Guard, May 30, 1975, covering his death and legacy.
