Description

Electress of Hanover (1630-1714) by marriage to Elector Ernest Augustus, and later the heiress presumptive to the thrones of England, Scotland, and Ireland under the Act of Settlement 1701. She died less than two months before she would have become queen; consequently, her son George I succeeded to the British throne. Rare ALS in French, signed “Sophia,” one page, 7 x 9, May 4, 1708. Untranslated handwritten letter to "Monsieur le Prince Royal de Prusse." The integral leaf is addressed in her hand and retains a partial black wax seal, impressed with a coat of arms. In fine condition, with a rusty circular paperclip impression to the address leaf.
