(Lucasfilm-20th Century Fox, 1982) Original color 27 x 41 ‘re-release’ studio version one sheet poster for the space opera Star Wars, featuring Tom Jung's classic artwork of Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, and R2-D2 and C-3PO against a background of Darth Vader, the Death Star, and a fleet of starships. This imagery is set against a blue background with silver text: “The Original Star Wars Is Back.” Lower portion bears the film's logo, credits, and production details, with a banner to lower right corner promoting the trailer for “Revenge of the Jedi.” The bottom border reads: “Printed In U.S.A.” and “Star Wars Is Back One-Sheet.” This is one of the first posters to use the newer revised/modern 20th Century Fox emblem. Rolled and in very good to fine condition, with overall light bends and creases, and noticeable chipping to upper right corner.
Star Wars: Episode VI-Revenge of the Jedi was the first draft of the script to the film that would later become Star Wars: Episode VI-Return of the Jedi. Director George Lucas chose 'Revenge of the Jedi' over his initial title of 'Return of the Jedi' because he found the latter 'weak'; however, in December 1982, Lucas decided that 'Revenge' was not appropriate for the title given that a Jedi should never seek revenge, and he changed it back.
