American financier (1786-1844) and president of the Bank of the United States. Partly-printed DS, signed “N. Biddle,” one page, 8.75 x 4, August 27, 1836. Promissory note from the Bank of the United States, issued to Baring Brothers & Co., of London, which states: "Sixty days after sight of this Third of Exchange First & Second of same tenor & date unpaid pay to M. Robinson Agt. or order Five hundred pounds st'g, value received & charge the same to account of this Bank with or without further advice For the President Directors & Company of the Bank of the United States." Signed at the conclusion by Nicholas Biddle as the bank's president. In very good to fine condition, with irregular toning, a crease to the upper right corner, and a small area of paper loss along the left edge.
