Description

The financier aims to strike a death with the Rothschilds

American financier (1786-1844) and president of the Bank of the United States. ALS signed “N. Biddle,” one page, 7.5 x 10, November 15, 1837. Handwritten letter concerning a business matter and the recent election, in part: "The peculiar relations of the Bank in Europe have made it advisable to send the cashier there—but his presence need not interfere with any business which we may do with Messrs. Rothschild and there are some operations with loans of the States & other securities which I think may be turned to advantage…The country is recovering from the stupor, and the result of the recent elections in New York gives reason to hope that the mischievous influences which have prevailed for some time will soon cease." In very good to fine condition, with a trimmed left edge, and scattered light staining.
