He assumed the throne upon the death of his father, Wilhelm I, and was succeeded by his son, Wilhelm II, following his brief reign and death from cancer of the larynx. ALS in French, signed “Frederic Guillame,” three pages on two adjoining sheets, 5.5 x 8.5, March 26, 1857. Untranslated handwritten letter in French to his grandmother. In fine condition.
