From the personal collection of First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy—an ACE Records 45 RPM record entitled “Dedicated to Mrs. John F. Kennedy / The First Lady Waltz by Jimmy McHugh, Ned Washington, Sung by John Gary.” Includes its original record sleeve, and a caption affixed to the record label reads: “Dedicated to Mrs. John F. Kennedy.” In fine condition. The record is included.
The lot is accompanied by a signed letter from Jimmy McHugh to Evelyn Lincoln at the White House, dated July 21, 1962, stating that he composed and dedicated the song to Mrs. Kennedy, and a letter from Lincoln to Kennedy collector Robert L. White, dated November 4, 1991, with Lincoln stating that the record “ended up with the things she discarded while packing to leave the White House.”
