Senator from Illinois and associate justice of the United States Supreme Court (1815-1886) who also served as Abraham Lincoln's campaign manager at the 1860 Republican National Convention, engineering Lincoln's successful nomination for President by that party. Uncommon 4.25 x 6.5 cabinet portrait of Davis in a relaxed seated pose, signed below in black ink, "David Davis, July 1869." Published by Sarony & Co., of New York. In very good to fine condition, with light overall foxing.
