Vintage-signed Ramones examples—especially with the original-line up—are extremely rare. This is the last album to be recorded with all four original members, as drummer Tommy Ramone left the band in 1978 to work solely on production. Often considered the Ramones' best album, Rolling Stone Magazine ranked it number 106 in Rolling Stone's '500 Greatest Albums of All Time' in 2012. Before he died in 2004, Johnny Ramone rated all 14 Ramones albums for New York Entertainment. Rocket to Russia was the only album he graded A+, stating, 'This was the best Ramones album—one great song after another. It had just the right balance of slow songs, ballads, and rockers.'
