British soldier and administrator (1861-1936) most famous for his role during World War I, in which he led the Egyptian Expeditionary Force in the conquest of Palestine and Syria in 1917 and 1918. Vintage matte-finish 8 x 10 photo of Allenby in uniform by H. Walter Barnett & Co. Studio, signed in fountain pen, "Edmund H. H. Allenby, General, 13.IV.18." Blindstamped in the lower corner by the studio. In fine condition, with scattered small scratches.
