Rossetti,” three pages on two adjoining sheets, 4.5 x 7, no date. Handwritten letter to a gentleman, in part: "In answer to the proof prospectus, I must say how very sorry I am that I could not with any certainty of fulfilling my duties, allow my name to resume the place I should wish for it. There is only one friend to whom I can apply with any hope of his taking my place—Mr. Ford Madox Brown—This I do by the present post, and should it be possible for him to do so (as I am sure he would be glad to do if possible) I have asked him to write you word to that effect."
