Letter to Thomas Robinson, in part: "If saying that I was intimately acquainted with you whilst you was in the Navy, and that you was actively and honourably employed, particularly so, during our War with Tripoli in the several attacks on that place under Commodore Preble, and that you had the confidence not only of that gallant officer but was beloved and respected by your brother Officers generally, and that you left the Service with honour; will be any use to you I say it with great pleasure; and I feel assured that should there be a situation under the State government that is vacant, suited to your talents, that your former arduous and faithful services, will give you a claim to it in the minds of those who have the disposal of vacant places." In fine condition, with seal-related paper loss to the integral address leaf, and a seal-related stain touching the signature.
