Letter to "the students of Mathematics in the West Winfield Central School," in full: "Our best achievements are inspired not so much by a sense of duty but by the interest and pleasure in the subject. This is particularly true with our activities in the arts and the sciences. I wish you, therefore, that kind of pleasure and curiosity which is only strengthened by the difficulties we are encountering thereby." Critical of his own writing, Einstein adds a brief postscript: "P.S. Please put it in better English." Attractively matted and framed with a photo and the original mailing envelope, addressed to Mrs. Gertrude S. Scofield, to an overall size of 20 x 14.5. In fine condition. An exceptional—and entirely well-written—letter of guidance from Einstein to young math students in New York, one punctuated by the physicist's insecurity in his own English.
