Flown .75″ x 1″ section of the neck dam from Gus Grissom’s pressure suit, which he wore inside the Liberty Bell 7 spacecraft for his historic Mercury-Redstone 4 mission on July 21, 1961. The neck dam piece is mounted to a presentation sheet prepared by Ricky Lanclos of Space Artifacts, which reads: “This is to certify that this swatch of latex rubber is from the neck dam of Grissom’s MR-4 Mercury Pressure Suit. It was taken from the neck dam when the suit was returned to Langley in late July, 1961.” Matted and framed to an overall size of 10.75 x 13.25. In fine condition. Accompanied by a copy of a letter of authenticity from Thomas F. Gallagher, a Project Mercury space suit technician.
