I had very much wanted to apologise to you, but I hadn't your address…Mrs. Westerling mentioned it by word of mouth one day in August and I never realised that it was, as it were, an official invitation. So I went abroad quite forgetting all about it…I really should like to accept your new invitation, but I'm off to Liberia at the beginning of January and between now and then I must finish a novel as well as make all the preparations for the journey, so I'm afraid I must refuse." In fine condition, with light toning and small stains along the right edge.
