Released on November 30, 1982, Thriller, in just over a year, became, and currently remains the best-selling album of all time, with sales estimated by various sources as being between 65 and 110 millions copies sold worldwide. In 1984, the album won a record-breaking eight Grammy Awards, and in 2003, Thriller was ranked number 20 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, with the National Association of Recording Merchandisers placing the album at number three on its Definitive 200 Album of All Time list. Both the Thriller album, and its synonymous title track, were included in the Library of Congress' National Recording Registry and the National Film Preservation Board's National Film Registry for being 'culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.'
