Description

Deputy sheriff in Dallas (1937-2017) who recovered Lee Harvey Oswald's rifle on the sixth floor of the Texas School Book Depository after JFK's assassination. Original felt tip sketch of Dealey Plaza accomplished by Deputy Sheriff Eugene Boone on a white 11 x 8.5 sheet, titled and signed in the lower corner, "Dealey Plaza, November 22, 1963, Deputy Sheriff Gene Boone." Boone sketches a bird's eye view of the plaza, indicating key locations such as the "Grassy Knoll" and "School Book Depository," and tracing the steps he took after shots rang out. He writes: "When shots were fired I ran from the front of the Sheriff's Office to the freight yard looking for anything out of the normal" and "I later entered the School Book Depository and went to the 6th floor where I found Oswald's rifle at 1:22 p.m. after the assassination." In fine condition.
