Description

Mercury signs a program for the 1986 musical Time

Souvenir program for Dave Clark’s Time: The Musical, held at London’s Dominion Theatre on May 23, 1986, 20 pages, 6 x 9, signed on the opening page in blue ballpoint by Freddie Mercury. The page is also signed by Clark, who created and directed the musical. The original ticket stub for the show is stapled to the inside back cover. In fine condition.

Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Tracks, and by a letter of provenance from the original recipient: “On the 23rd May 1986 together with my sister-in-law I went to the Dominion Theatre in London to watch Dave Clark’s musical TIME starring Cliff Richard. During the interval the ‘ice cream lady’ appeared in the doorway and quickly followed two men… one took away her tray…it was then the audience realized it was Freddie Mercury who released the main track…followed by Dave Clark who created and directed the musical. I rushed down to the barrier and was lucky enough to get both autographs.” Mercury recorded the songs ‘Time’ and ‘In My Defence’ for Clark's musical, and although Mercury did not appear in the musical itself, both songs were included on the cast album, and ‘Time’ was also released as a separate single.
