An exquisite signed album boasting an atypically large signature—after a memorable showing at Newport Jazz Festival in 1955, Davis signed with Columbia and formed his 'first great quintet' with John Coltrane on saxophone. The contract included a $4,000 advance and a condition that his recordings for Columbia would remain unreleased until his agreement with Prestige expired. 'Round About Midnight was his first album for the label and, since its release in 1957, it has earned the distinction as being one of the great modern-jazz albums. Authentically signed Miles Davis albums rarely come to market, with this being a stunning example of his seminal ‘Round About Midnight’ record.
