ALS signed “E. Waugh,” one page, 8.75 x 10.75, Combe Florey House letterhead, August 7 (no year but circa 1957-1959). Interesting letter to a bookbinder, in part: "I enclose here various magazines & pamphlets of roughly the same size. Will you please bind them in chronological order (as they are now amassed)…entitled: Miscellaneous // 1946—1954 // E. W…A loose page from the Tablet July 27th 1946 is inclosed. Of this only page 46 is relevant. Please paste it to a backing…fold and insert (on guard) to face p. 366 of Horizon June 1946." Waugh adds a few sentences to the conclusion: "Paste bookplate into inside front cover, stamp sides in gold with enclosed block. Will you please also use this block for sides of the Knox pamphlet now in your hands. Also on 'The Ordeal of Gilbert Pinfold.'" In fine condition, with scattered light creasing and handling wear.
