Description

Italian writer and journalist (1907-1990) whose novels explored matters of modern sexuality, social alienation, and existentialism. He is perhaps best known for his debut novel Gli indifferenti, for the existential novel Il disprezzo (turned into Jean-Luc Godard's 1963 film Contempt), and for the anti-fascist novel Il Conformista (the basis for Bernardo Bertolucci's 1970 film The Conformist). TLS in Italian, one page, 8.25 x 11.75, February 7, 1984. Letter on cycling, in part (translated): "Thank you for the proposal but unfortunately I understand nothing about cycling, just nothing, so the word ciclismo does not inspire in me that original feeling that only comes from experience. I'm sorry but I have nothing to say that is worth being reported." In fine condition.
