Description

English naturalist and innovator in the study of marine biology (1810-1888) who created and stocked the first public aquarium at the London Zoo in 1853. ALS signed “P. H. Gosse,” one page, 4.75 x 7.75, December 31, 1851. Letter to William Parker Hammond, Jr., in full: "Illness has prevented my reply to your request for my signature. I willingly comply with it, though possessing no claims to the title of 'eminent.'" In fine condition.
