Al Worden’s rare commemorative medallion display presented to him at the 115th Explorers Club Annual Dinner held on March 16, 2019, at the Broadway Lounge and Ballroom at New York’s Marriott Marquis. The display consists of a silver-tone medal, 2″ in diameter, with raised image of a lunar module over the moon, encircled with the text: “50th Anniversary of Members on the Moon, 2019-ECAD-115th.” The medal is mounted to a Tiffany & Co. sterling silver (Ag 925) frame, 5″ x 5″, with the lower border engraved: “Al Worden, Apollo 15.” In fine condition, with various smudging and/or fingerprint marks to frame.
In preparation for the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11, the Explorers Club held a dinner to celebrate the various pioneers of the space program. As such, the 115th Explorers Club Annual Dinner offered a resounding toast to all living moonwalkers, astronauts, and engineers involved with the historic Apollo program. Only the Apollo astronauts were presented with this award.
