Description

Medal of Honor-winning military officer and physician (1860-1927) who served as Army Chief of Staff and then Governor-General of Cuba and the Philippines. During the Spanish-American War, he commanded the Rough Riders, with Theodore Roosevelt as his second-in-command. Handsome oversized etched portrait proof of Wood in uniform by Charles Barmore of Paterson, NJ, 13 x 17.75, signed in the lower left in pencil, "Leonard Wood." Marked in the lower right in pencil, "Ninth Proof for Copper Plate." Archivally matted and framed to an overall size of 17 x 23. In fine condition.
