British banker and politician (1840-1915), the 1st Baron Rothschild, from the international Rothschild financial dynasty. Partly-printed DS in Russian, English, and French, signed “N. M. Rothschild, Contractor,” one page both sides, 9 x 14, March 1, 1822. Document for a loan at five percent to the Russian government valued at 720 rubles. Signed vertically in the upper right margin by Rothschild as the backer of the loan. Also signed on both sides by a few other officials. In very good to fine condition, with light soiling, and old tape stains along the central horizontal fold.
