Benjamin Harrison

Partly-printed vellum DS as president, signed “Benj. Harrison,” one page, 15.5 x 19.25, January 7, 1890. President Harrison appoints Lyman W. V. Kennon as "First Lieutenant in the Sixth Regiment of Infantry in the service of the United States." Boldly signed at the conclusion by President Harrison and countersigned by Secretary of War Redfield Proctor. The blue War Office seal affixed to the lower left remains intact. In fine condition. During the Spanish-American War, Kennon commanded Company 'E' of the 6th Infantry Regiment and was cited for bravery at San Juan Hill.
